Do you feel as though you are living someone else’s life?  Are there days you wonder “What the heck just happened?”

What do you care about most?  Do you even know, or is your inner voice drowned out with incessant demands on your time and distractions pulling you in every direction?

Would you be able to tell me your top 5 values in your life right now?

YOUR UNSHAKABLE FOUNDATION

We learn basic values as young children, and then continue to evolve and adapt them as we grow into adulthood. Along the way things can sometimes get murky. Part of growing up involves questioning the values we’ve grown up with and sometimes, we simply disregard the values we’ve grown up with without setting up a clear new system of values to guide us.

Getting clear on your desires and your values is the first step in building yourself a rock-solid foundation from which to operate.

When you are clear on what is important for you, making decisions big or small becomes a much easier task.

We are inundated with choices, options, and distractions each and every day-multiple times a day. When you are in alignment with what is most important to you, life comes to you at a much easier pace. When your desires and values are top of mind, choices come naturally and simply and the BS is removed from the equation.  You no longer have to agonize or second guess yourself. Instead, you make your decision and are certain that it’s the right one.

Our values are the foundation for a harmonious life, they are the essence of who we are. And although you might agree with me the importance of knowing what our values are-when was the last time you took the time to identify exactly what your values are?

WHY THE DISCONNECT?

Spending time to discover for yourself exactly what your current values are will provide tremendous insight to why certain situations, experiences and relationships affect you the way they do.

We move through our days, some good, some bad without taking the time to identify why some days are good and some days are bad—simply responding to each and every thing that crosses our radar.

Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the people around us and we start living our life in accordance to their values, we lose sight of what’s truly important to us and we lose sight of what’s important to our soul. When we feel out of touch with the deepest and truest part of ourselves, it’s easy to follow societal norms or submit to doing what our loved ones want us to do instead of staying true to what we really want.

When we feel ‘off’, feel discouraged or irritated it’s because we are not living according to our current values.  Our body is constantly communicating with us, but for several reasons we get disconnected and lose our trust that what our bodies are telling us is real.

Why do we disconnect?

*Follow societal norms-when really none of us are ‘normal’ at all

*Submit to doing what our loved ones want instead of what we want

*A person of influence tells us we are ‘wrong’ over and over again

*Wrapped up in other’s lives that we lose sight of ours

*Pursue money, relationships, or a certain body type because we think we ‘should’

*Self-soothe to escape the uncomfortable or painful messages we are receiving

HOW TO MOVE ON FROM HERE

Our body wisdom exists to remind us when we’ve taken a misstep.

It is these painful reminders that drive women to seek escapes through social media, food, drugs, mindless spending or banal television.

Instead of attempting to self-soothe when you receive one of these reminders, what would it be like for you if instead, you began to ask yourself, “What Value is being breached right now?” and “What can I do differently that will bring me back in alignment?”

Once you’ve identified your current values-I invite you to answer these questions.
How would someone with these values live their life?  How can you incorporate more of your values in your daily life?

The beauty of all of this is as soon as your values become clear, you start paying attention to what you want more of that brings you meaning, fulfillment, pleasure, and happiness.  You know without a shadow of a doubt what’s most important to you.   You find yourself calmly moving through life, making decisions, taking action, and moving along almost effortlessly.
